Privacy by design

Intro

Our privacy policy is guided by 3 simple principles:

  1. Your home is private: what happens at home, stays at home
  2. No personal information is collected
  3. We follow industry best practices when it comes to security

Your home is private: what happens at home, stays at home

Home is your most private space. It is your safe place where you can do as you please. Zendō has been designed to safeguard your privacy.

All data is encrypted. The app connects directly to your home automation system without passing by our servers. The communication between the app and your home is private and encrypted.

No personal information is collected

You can use zendō without an account. We do not harvest your personal data. We do not collect any analytics about how the app is used.

There are few exceptions and we want to be fully transparent about those:

  • We might require one email address as trusted contact, to be used if you need any support
  • We do collect error/crash reports if the app malfunctions but the reports contain no personal information

The app will request access to your location. You can decline access if you wish to do so. The location is used to activate home automation like turning off the lights when you leave home. We do not collect your location data: it stays private and it will never leave your device.

We follow industry best practices when it comes to security

All connections are fully encrypted using strong encryption. The keys to your home are stored on your devices and they are fully encrypted and protected by your device PIN code / fingerprint or facial recognition (e.g. Face ID).
