Each link is unique. Cancel one at any time and it stops working immediately.
Invite someone as a Resident if they live or work there, with their own location automations and notifications. Invite them as a Guest if they're visiting. Guests get a simpler app, without Energy, Climate Monitoring or the battery lists.
Someone's left, or you spot a device you don't recognise? Delete it and that app stops working immediately.
A different floorplan for every person.
For each accessory, pick one of three: everyone, show it only to certain people, or hide it from certain people.
A guest staying the weekend sees the guest room and the living room. The kids get their own room and nothing else. Visitors at a commercial property don't see the cameras or the HVAC. You always see everything.
It carries through the whole app. Hide an accessory on the floorplan and it's gone from the activity feed too. Guests can even have their own set of music favourites.
The rest of the household.
You've done the work of setting it up. Family Sharing is what turns it into something the whole house uses.
Everyone opens the same app and sees their own rooms, their own lights, and nothing they don't need.
Questions people ask first
Yes. Choose exactly which accessories Guests can see and control, down to a single room if that's all they need. Guests are one group, so every Guest sees the same floorplan. Invite someone as a Resident when you want to set it person by person.
No. Guests can't receive push notifications and can't have location automations. Invite someone as a Resident if they need either.
You see every accessory while editing the floorplan, so you can't hide something from yourself by accident. The Family Sharing rules apply once you save.
