UniFi Protect records. Zendo shows.
Your NVR keeps doing what it does. Zendo puts the cameras where they point and the doorbell where it rings.
Two jobs, cleanly separated.
Protect handles detection, recording and storage, and exposes your cameras to Home Assistant or Homey. That's a job Protect does very well.
Zendo reads what your system exposes. Nothing about your Protect setup changes, nothing needs re-pairing, and the Protect app carries on working alongside it.
How UniFi Protect connects to Zendo
Recording and storage carry on exactly as they are. Zendo doesn't change it.
That's the only connection Zendo makes. Everything works through it.
Add each one to the floorplan and link it to the room it covers.
Every camera on one screen.
Link each camera to a room and it joins the Activity & Cameras view: a snapshot of each one, refreshed as you watch, with a live stream on tap. Zendo uses WebRTC, so the live stream has as little delay as possible.
Because the camera is linked to a room, you can turn on the lights in that room without leaving the stream. On a dark drive at night that's the difference between a useful picture and a grey rectangle.
Your presence and contact sensors sit in the same view, so you can follow movement through the corridors a camera can't reach.
See who's there. Let them in.
UniFi doorbells work like the cameras, with two extras. Talk to whoever's there, and unlock the door from the same screen if there's a smart lock in that room.
Pair one with a wall-mounted tablet running Kiosk Mode and it becomes a door panel. The tablet wakes, plays a ringtone and shows a full-screen snapshot of who's at the door. The ring comes locally from your system, so there's no round trip to a cloud service.
What Zendo doesn't do.
No recording, no storage, no detection, no clip library and no event scrubbing. Zendo is the live glance and the last two hours of activity.
All of that stays with Protect, which is where it belongs.
